Staff and eleven of the families who have been successfully treated at the Fertility Unit, at Wrightington Hospital, attended a first birthday celebration at the Unit on Friday, 15 April. Together they enjoyed some birthday cake and exchanged stories about being new parents!
The Unit opened for patients in April 2015 and was made possible by a partnership with the Hewitt Fertility Centre, part of Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust. The Unit treats both private and NHS funded patients.
Phil Harris Consultant Gynaecologist and Clinical Lead for the unit said:
“All of the team here are thrilled to have had such a successful year, helping people achieve their dream of starting a family. Being able to work in a brand new unit, designed especially for fertility care, with access to the very latest in fertility technology has been fantastic for both patients and staff”.
“The feedback we’ve had from patients is truly humbling. For many people starting a family is the most important thing they will ever do and sometimes it is not easy to achieve. The support and care from the team is really appreciated by our patients”.
Since moving from Leigh to the Wrightington site in 2015 the fertility unit has expanded and in this year alone has treated 20% more people, attracting patients from all over the North West region.
