New Mum, Laura Carter, has raised £330 by doing a sponsored swim for the Fertility Unit, based on the Wrightington Hospital site.
Laura was successfully treated at the Unit and gave birth to baby Austin, 3 December 2015. She explained “I cannot put into words the gratitude that I felt and wanted to help
other couples in similar situation, this is our way of saying thank you and raising awareness about fertility problems”.
Mr Phil Harris, Consultant Gynaecologist and Clinical Lead for Fertility Services, commented “Our Team is dedicated to helping people achieve their dream of starting a family. Not being able to get pregnant and undergoing fertility treatment can be a very emotional and stressful time. Around 3.5 million people across the UK have difficulty conceiving, so it’s fantastic that Laura is helping to raise awareness about fertility treatment by telling people her story and showing people that they are not alone.”
Liz Titley, Fundraising Officer said “It’s wonderful that Laura has chosen to fundraise for the Fertility Unit. All money raised will be used to further improve the quality of patient care either by the purchase of medical equipment or used to enhance the patient environment and experience. It’s a fantastic achievement and we are very grateful to Laura and all our fundraising supporters who give their time and effort to help us.”
